Welcome! Letter from the Editor-in-Chief

Dear Readers!

The magazine you have in your hands is the first issue of the Russian Singapore,
a quarterly review for businessmen and anyone who wants to know more about two extremely
different but so great countries: Singapore and Russia.

In recent years, Singapore has been seeing a constant increase number of tourists
and expatriates from Russia, along with the strengthening of ties between Russia
and Singapore in fields such as banking, trade and industry.
In this regard, it is high time that a Russian-English periodical came about to
introduce Singapore’s laws, culture and achievements to Russian readers,
as well as to outline the numerous possibilities and options available
to foreigners in this country.

We feel we are the right people to dispel a general Russian misconception of
Singapore as being a chewing gum-free province of China (or Hong Kong, for that matter),
which has nothing to offer a foreigner except for a handful of fines for the tiniest of offences.

If you are a Singaporean who wishes to visit Russia as a tourist or establish business relations
with Russian entrepreneurs, we will have some useful tips for you, too.
